Nursultan Nazarbayev takes part in the 2nd Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State

Following the results of the meeting in a narrow composition, the heads of four countries decided to assign Nursultan Nazarbayev the status of Honorary Chairman of the Consultative Meeting of the Central Asian Heads of State.

During his speech at the Consultative meeting, the First President of Kazakhstan expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for inviting me to take part in the summit.

Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that the dialogue that started last year in the capital of Kazakhstan opened a new page in the history of Central Asia.

- It dramatically improved the picture of our cooperation. The dialogue signalled to five countries that our friendship will live for centuries. Activation of contacts at all levels has started, said Elbasy.

Nursultan Nazarbayev has also spoken about the history of cooperation between Central Asian countries.

In the context of pooling the potential of the meeting's participating states to increase the well-being of the nations, the First President of Kazakhstan proposed to conclude an Agreement on Good Neighbourhood and Cooperation for the Central Asia Development in the 21st Century.

- This fundamental political document should reflect our interaction’s basic principles and goals. The agreement will also include provisions on mutual respect for sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of our countries, said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

In addition, in order to strengthen security in the region, he proposed holding a meeting of the Secretaries of Security Councils of Central Asian countries next year.

At the same time, the First President of Kazakhstan called on the governments of the participating countries to pay attention to the problems on the high dynamics of demographic development.

- It is necessary to achieve the creation of a barrier-free Central Asia by removing obstacles to the movement of goods, services and capital, said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Elbasy also invited all heads of state to establish a new holiday on March 15 – Day of Central Asia.

Special attention was also paid to strengthening cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields. So, in the framework of this area, Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed allocating 10 grants for students from each country in the region, providing the right to study in the best universities in Kazakhstan.

- The cradle of the Turkic world - the city of Turkestan is now experiencing its new renaissance. At the same time, it will undoubtedly maintain its cultural, historical and spiritual core. It will be a wonderful metropolis to become our common new pride. Therefore, I invite the heads of the fraternal states of Central Asia to visit this ancient city next autumn, said the First President of Kazakhstan.

In conclusion, Elbasy expressed the need to expand and deepen the heritage of Central Asian states.
