Turkestan
During the visit, the Leader of Nation attended a concert in the square of the city’s spiritual and cultural centre and greeted the residents of Turkestan region.
In his welcoming address, Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the historical significance of his decision to transfer the regional centre to Turkestan.
- Since gaining independence, I have been thinking of Turkestan as a capital city. But, as you know, the situation did not allow that. And now this city has become a regional centre, where work is underway to revive it. Turkestan is the cradle of the Turkic world. And I’m sure that the fraternal Turkic states will also assist us, said the Leader of Nation.
The First President of Kazakhstan noted the high pace of a huge construction project implemented throughout the city.
- The first stage covers the construction of 175 facilities. Of these, 102 are starting this year. All regions of the country take part in this process, said Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Leader of Nation thanked all participants in the construction and reconstruction of the regional centre.
- Upon completion of constructing all planned facilities, we expect an increase in the volume of tourists. In addition, there will be more jobs. All this will favourably affect the living standards of our citizens, concluded the First President of Kazakhstan.
At the end of the concert, Nursultan Nazarbayev examined an exhibition of artisans, where the craftspeople from 20 countries of the world presented their works.
